It is an oath that sends him over the ancient wall and into a world that is dangerous and strange beyond imagining . ., .Includes extra material exclusive to this Headline edition.
Reviews: Marcelo (Brazil) (2006/10/13):
A narrative of fantasy for adults.

The reading is quite pleasant and fast. Neil Gaiman manages to convey a world of witches, fairies, talking trees, fallen stars, and magic in general. The main characters are well developed.
The novel has been turned into a movie with Michelle Pfeiffer playing the vilain.

Miratrix (Guyana) (2019/04/19):
I love this book because of it has a unique story; it didn't feel like the usual fairytale with the cliché of hero saves a helpless damsel in distress, they get married and live happily ever after.

It takes you along on the magical journey of not only our protagonist but of the other interesting characters as well. It is a way to prove true love for one, the chasing of long-lasting young & beauty for some and a race to win a throne for others. The combination of agendas made me excited to see who would achieve their goal first and how they would prevent the others from gaining theirs. Also, the ending is actually quite realistic (well as realistic as a fictional world could be) which only adds more weight to the story. I don't want to spoil anything so I'll just say that the story of our protagonist is told in full, his whole life, and while it might not happiest ending to a book ever, it is still a good end to a fantastic novel.
