Annie the Superfast Reader (USA: NY) (2006/10/09): I started this series because Amazon recommended it to me as a fan of George RR Martin's Song of Ice and Fire series and of the works of Robin Hobb. I enjoyed book one, though found it a bit thin compared to Hobb and Martin--I just don't feel as surrounded by the world as I do when reading those books. However, I am into book two already and liking where Berg is taking this story, so consider this a positive review. I would recommend this if you like medieval-style fantasy, and if you enjoyed the Belgariad you will definitely like these books. I will be posting books 2, 3, and 4 as I finish them, and I'm a speed reader so that should be soon.
